Our process

Torsion springs on a double insulated door hold serious tension, more than on the older single-panel doors common elsewhere in the service area, and that tension doesn't scale down just because the house is newer. We won't talk anyone through winding one over the phone. Where a homeowner can reasonably do their own work: lubricating hinges and rollers, checking and tightening loose bolts on the track, and testing the auto-reverse safety feature by setting an object under the door and closing it. Those take ten minutes and no special tools. Anything involving the spring, the cable, or removing a panel is where we'd rather you call than end up in the emergency room - a broken cable under load has enough force to cause a real injury.

Most spring and roller work on a door this age is a same-visit fix - the parts are common enough that we're not waiting on a special order. If a full door replacement is the right call rather than a repair, that's a longer conversation and a second trip for install, not something we'd try to knock out in one stop.
